DERMAL FILLER

Dermal filler is a naturally occurring hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into the LIPS to plump and shape and areas of the FACE to smooth away wrinkles and add contour. The results improve the appearance instantly and lasts around 9 to 18 months before it naturally safely dissolves. Please note, sometimes more than 1ml will be needed to achieve the results required. This is usually done gradually to give the tissues time to adjust.

It is normal to experience some bruising and or swelling following this procedure. Arnica is recommended to use at home along with an ice pack should you require it. Swelling can last from a couple of hours to a few days and bruising takes up to 14 days to disappear. It is important not to plan any vigorous exercise and avoid heat for at least 12 hours. A detailed aftercare sheet will be given to you post treatment.

A full free consultation will be given at your appointment.

PRE TREATMENT AND AFTERCARE ADVICE

Avoid taking Aspirin, Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) such as ibuprofen, Vitamin E, fish oil, Ginger, Ginkgo Bilboa, Ginseng, 10-14 days prior to the procedure. These drugs and herbs may cause excessive bleeding or bruising.

If you have a history of cold sores, an active herpes outbreak, or any dental procedures scheduled in the next month please notify us so we can discuss your options.

After

Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. If it continues or if other reactions occur, please call us.

The initial swelling after lip treatment may last longer. Some patients experience swelling for about a week and the lips can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result.

Avoid touching the treatment area 6 hours after the treatment. After that the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied.

Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. solarium and sunbathing) or extreme cold.

If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores.

If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
